Little Devil Finds a New Home

I found myself at my favorite garden center this weekend to pick up “just one more” veggie plant. Because our garden is pretty much complete, I told hubby that I would not purchase any plants other than vegetables or fruits this year. But, I was feeling energetic and somewhat feisty on my trip to Wyntour Gardens (the wind, sunshine and plants as far as the eye can see do that to me) and ended up leaving with a small, spiny hitchhiker.

You have probably heard of “The Law of Attraction.” Well, my feistiness attracted this little fella.

Somehow he jumped off that nursery table and landed right in my hand. I tried to put him back amongst his cacti friends, but he was a smooth talker and clearly was accustomed to getting his way. He told me he had been wanting to get his own place and heard through the grapevine that I had a vacant blue pot on my front porch. With apprehension, I explained that he would have to share space with about fifty other succulents, that he might want to wait to find a home with more privacy, but he didn’t mind the close quarters. And, he liked the fact that the porch faced west, providing a nice roast at the end of the day and a view of the most beautiful sunsets.

I named him Little Devil (predictable and cheesy, I know) for his devilish good looks and the fact that he could have gotten me in trouble with hubby for buying something that wasn’t on the list. We are becoming fast friends.

Don’t you just love Wyntour Gardens??? I can get lost there just touching and smelling all of the beautiful plants, well not the one you chose of course!!! But an hour spent at a garden nursery is just sooo relaxing!!! Hope your garden is growing with abandon!!!! My Peonies are up and they have blossom heads on them already, I can’t wait to take picture and of course be intoxicated by their heavenly smells!!!
Blessing to you and yours

I used to get lost there on a regular basis, Curtis. Lately, I have had to tone it down a bit. Peonies are one of my favorite flowers. Unfortunately, they take too much water for my garden. I will look for photos on your blog!
